Final Fantasy VII Snowboarding Preview

The Final Fantasy VII love just keeps on coming and this one, I’ll admit, was one that took me completely by surprise. Sure cell phones will get Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII, but this one is all about the snowboarding. Before you start scratching your head, you might remember a segment in Final Fantasy VII that has Cloud on a snowboard attempting to avoid obstacles and collecting balloons down a snowy hill. Well, this one once again puts you on the snow as Cloud and it looks fun.

Much like the mini-game found in the PSOne classic RPG, you attempt to earn points in a Score Attack mode that has you dodging obstacles like snowmen while attempting to catch colorful balloons scattered across the hill. The environments I saw looked challenging enough and the cool part is that you can unlock intermediate and advance downhill courses. There’s even an unlockable Time Attack mode that has you attempting to beat your own time.

Watching the video I could see new spin jump moves to avoid colliding with obstructions and the game seems to control pretty smoothly. The game can only be played on compatible phones (Verizon Wireless / LG VX8000).  

So if you loved the snowboarding mini-game, you’ll love having this one along.
