E3 2006 Hands On Preview

Creatures of the Deep is a fishing game that will put players in several exotic locations and allow them to catch for hundreds of different exotic fish. This is different from any other fishing game on the market, however, in that it interacts with your phone, making it a truly unique fishing game. Plus, the game has some very nicely rendered 3D graphics, making it a game that casual gamers will be able to pick up and play, but is addicting enough to draw in some of the hardcore amongst us.

Creatures of the Deep doesn’t just stick you in a single location. You have a full range of places to explore, from the fantastical to real-world areas. Once you hook a fish, the game will use the vibration sensor on your cell phone, allowing you to feel subtle bites up you a big pull. You can even compete in online tournaments via the N-Gage Arena.

The game does some pretty unique things given its placement on the mobile platform. For example, you can play the pervasive fishing mode, which will allow you to fish in the background as you do other things. Once you feel a bite on your line (via your phone’s vibration), then you can grab your phone and reel them in.

Also, the game will have an interesting screen saver system that will actually show off the fish you’ve caught, as they’ll be swimming in the background.

Graphically, the game is quite sweet. The game is rendered using next-gen mobile graphics, meaning that the look is 3D complete with nice weather effects and well rendered fish.

Creatures of the Deep is looking like a very impressive game with a broad appeal and addictive gameplay.
