Boulder Dash M.E. 2 Review

Boulder Dash is a classic action-puzzler that makes the player utilize a fair amount of strategy in order to progress. The game’s stages are quite short and the controls are fairly simple to grasp, making it an ideal candidate for the cell phone platform. Therefore, iPlay is putting Boulder Dash M.E. 2 on the mobile format, and the results are pretty good. The game is a fun game to pick up and play, given the shortness of the levels and the easy-to-grasp gameplay. Hardcore gamers will enjoy the challenges that the later stages pose and casual players will enjoy the ease of play. All in all, Boulder Dash M.E. 2 is a very competent version of a classic series.

Boulder Dash M.E. 2 basically has you running through a series of stages collecting diamonds and using your abilities to reach the end of the stage. You can use a wide breadth of items, like bombs and hammers to break through certain areas and get to more diamonds.

Boulder Dash M.E. 2 has three difficulty levels: Easy, Medium and Hard. The Easy mode may be most appropriate for casual or new gamers, as most will find it to be terribly easy to complete. The Hard mode, however, raises the challenge level substantially, and makes for a good challenge for Boulder Dash fans.

Graphically, Boulder Dash M.E. 2 isn’t the prettiest game on the block and certainly won’t dazzle you. However, the brightly colored sprites and fun backgrounds mean that Boulder Dash doesn’t look too shabby after all. The game unfortunately wouldn’t play sound on a Motorola RAZR V3 for some reason.

Boulder Dash M.E. 2 is a fun and competent game that is tremendously easy to pick up and play, as well as a game that will present a good challenge to those who are looking for it.
