I have to be honest, I did not have high hopes for any game on my IPod touch, with my PSP and DS, I pretty much thought I had all my mobile gaming covered. Then I started getting some games for my IPod touch and my eyes became wide with surprise. Yes, I realize I was being narrow minded and needed to be a bit more accepting of new technologies, and boy am I glad I did.

My first game on the IPod touch is a clever little title based on the tower defense theme. Using a series of different style towers (cannon, missile, laser, etc) you must combat the oncoming flood of critters looking to kill your people. Since this is on a small IPod screen, the game plays out like this; following a line that has twists and turns, creatures come at different speeds in an attempt to get all of your people. At the beginning of each level you have a set amount of people represented by a number at the very end of the line. Each creature that makes it to the end takes one human away. If you run down to zero, then the game is over, if you can stave off the predetermined number of waves and have at least one person by the end, you go to the next level.

Again, since it is a small screen, the creatures are really just dots with tiny legs sticking out, or triangles or whatever simpler looking symbol is handy, towers are really just different colored circles that have some slight detail to them. Incidentally, as you destroy creatures, you gain money in which to buy more towers or, improve on your existing towers. As you improve your towers, you can see visual changes and the affects their newly added power has on the creatures. And if that isn't enough, you begin getting new towers to implement that slow creatures down or power up your towers even further.

The gameplay is incredibly fast paced and to be honest with you, provided all sorts of craziness in my head. As you move towers around and improve them, monsters come faster and faster. When they get shot sometimes they explode in a shower of colored sparks. Pretty soon, you can have 45 different towers, launching missiles, shooting lasers and explosions all over the place. You know that warning printed on all videogames warning you about seizures? Well, this is the game that could do it to you.

"And you thought you weren't epileptic."

I can't really get too jazzed about the graphics in this game, since they are all pretty simplistic. The sprites are certainly bright and popping, and the speed in which the game gets moving at is also something to marvel at. But this is an example of "less is more" since the game does not require overdone graphics. In tandem, the audio comes across clean and crisp, specifically when monsters are destroyed, but not too much is thrown at you as it would ruin the simple gaming experience.

If there is one thing that drove me nuts, its is the fact that you can sell your towers back at a reduced price, not that I mind that ability, but I do mind the placement of the sell button as it is right next to the upgrade button and on more then occasion I sold a tower that 1) I was trying to upgrade and 2) was in a critical location in relevance to the oncoming horde.

If you are quick minded and even quicker fingered, then this is one heck of an addictive, simple game.
